LOCATION AND BACKGROUND
Benleigh is situated on the picturesque Bellarine Peninsula near Geelong and is 75 minutes from the Melbourne CBD and Tullamarine International Airport. With a background of generations of farming, and experience with Stud Sheep and wool production, owners and principals of Benleigh Alpaca Stud, Allan and Carolyn Jinks purchased alpacas in 1989 to become part of their Agricultural enterprise. Inaugural members of the Australian Alpaca Association(AAA), they have travelled extensively and attended Seminars worldwide to gain all possible experience. As inaugural members of the Australian Alpaca Co-operative (now AAFL), Benleigh supports the action of value adding and is proud to provide fleece for this work.
VISIONS AND GOALS
The vision of producing fine dense fleece on conformationally correct stock has always been the vision and this goal has now been reached by using superior males that cut up to 6kg of fleece annually. Results in the Show ring at National and Royal levels prove that judges throughout Australia recognise the quality and success of the breeding program implemented at Benleigh.
